MESSAGE FROM DIRECTOR GENERAL DR. ENGR. U. O. UDOFIA TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS LOVERS DURING THE AFRICAN CONFERENCE ON HUMAN RIGHTS, ANTI-CORRUPTION, LABOUR AND ENVIRONMENT HELD ON 10TH MARCH 2010 IN NIGERIA.
The International Human Rights & Anti-Corruption Society (IHRAS) was established on 1st June 1999, Legalized and Certified by Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990 on May 23, 2007 with Large and Broad Mandates to deal with all issues of Corruption, defending and protecting Human Rights as enshrined in the United Nations Charter on Universal Declaration of Human Rights, European and African Charters on Human and Peoples Rights, Promoting Democracy, Foster Multi-Dimensional Approach to Security and other International Organizations treaties on Human Rights, Anti-Corruption, Labour, Environment and Development Globally.
International Human Rights & Anti-Corruption Society embarked on the projects and programmes that addresses important need and protect the poorest in the downturn, improve service delivery, social protection and food security for the Poorest, particularly in conflict affected and fragile communities in Nigeria and Africa. Again the Organization has strengthen in-country Advocacy and Policy Development on off track Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in particular Gender Equality and Women Empowerment, Reducing Child Mortality improving Maternal Health and ensuring Environmental Sustainability. Also improved the impact capacity and contribution of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) to work together with Governments at Global, National and Local Levels to eradicate Poverty and promote sustainable Growth. Links to the MDGs had been made explicated. In its over ten years of existence, the Organization has been able to build a Human Rights, Anti-Corruption platform upon which Nigeria and Africa can stand among other Human Rights Organizations within the Comity of Nations.
The New International Human Rights & Anti-Corruption Society Headquarters’ building is under construction, the building when completed would accord the Organization a special Conducive Environment for Human Rights, Anti-Corruption, Security, Democracy and Development Activities as it would also boast the Corporate image of the Organization.
The Organization draws its funds primarily from the Trusteeship Council, Individual Donations and Donors Support form International and Local Organizations over the years and funds for the Organization has solely remained inadequate in carrying out some of the proposed activities of the Organization.
Staff Improvement has been taken into consideration in the year, Staff Development and Capacity Building at various areas of specification has been implemented.
SPECIAL APPEAL
The International Human Rights & Anti-Corruption Society specially want to use this conference to appeal to persons, Organizations/Agencies nationally and internationally to join us in the fight against Corruption, Abuse of Human Rights, Insecurity and promotion of Democracy and Development in Nigeria & Africa and by extension Globally.
The International Human Rights & Anti-Corruption Society records of achievements for the years since certification and legalization are very tremendous in Nigeria and Africa whereby Nigerians and Africans are pleased to channel their complaints, prayers, petitions etc to the Organization as “A MINISTER IN THE TEMPLE OF JUSTICE” and shall continue to protect the Rights of Citizens – Socially, Economically, Politically and Culturally for the Glory of God and Humanity.
